clear eyes full hearts can't lose

One thing that's happening is I'm into school sports teams. Possibly influenced by how much time I've spent on the internet this week scouring Etsy for the perfect vintage black and white Letterman jacket & following that weird football player internet girlfriend death hoax thing.

I'm still not actually interested in watching or supporting them...but the idea itself appeals to me.  Maybe I'm just into fictional ones?  That's probably it. Why watch real sports when I can watch Friday Night Lights?

I've even been digging "Be True to Your School" after seeing  the Stars Hollow troubador sing it on an episode of Gilmore Girls (which I've been rewatching - currently in the "isn't Jess dreamy?" phase and I never want to have that taken away from me.)  Listening to this particular song is a big deal to me, since I tend to avoid the ones sung by megajerk Mike Love (when it comes to the Beach Boys, I'm fiercely Team Brian) but once it got stuck in my head, it just wouldn't go away.

Anyway, this particular video is extra good because Brian and Carl's high school music teacher is interviewed. He talks about giving "Surfin'" an F and Brian composing "Be True to Your School" for an assignment, which was particularly cool to learn because the song is a million times better to me knowing that it was a bad student's homework assignment.

I feel no guilt associated with my enjoyment of this supercute song by the Babies, though.  Over the past months, Our House on the Hill has been majorly growing on me.  Perfect roadtrip album.

So now that we have fake sports fan TV and fake sports fan music covered, how about some fake sports fan fashion inspiration?

Sea Pre Fall 2013 has some pretty spot on looks if, like me, you dig Americana/prep school/varsity team imagery, but would prefer it through the lens of a girl who is too cool for school and enjoys luxury fabrics.  I'm not fully on board with the collection, mostly because I don't believe in peplum and I sure as hell don't believe in peplum and ponchos coexisting in the same collection, but I would very much like a jacket with an eagle embroidered on to it, please and thank you !

So yeah, how 'bout that sports team, right?  So great, don't you think?

  1. So I was that kid in high school who hated gym class and didn't play any school sports, and I'm also digging this whole romantic fictional sports vibe... FNL, letterman jackets, rugby stripes... Have you seen Julie Eilenberger's collections? They're awesome.
